Welcome to AG IEG web site

Welcome to the web site created for the UNEP Major Groups and Stakeholders Advisory Group on International Environmental Governance (AG IEG) 2010-2012. The AG used a list-serve and then this site to discuss the issues and prepare its contributions to intergovernmental processes in complete transparency. The AG completed its work by March 2012, but since it was a constructive experiment in expert input from civil society, this site with the AG outputs will be maintained for archival purposes at the address http://agieg.iefworld.org/ where it has been hosted by the International Environment Forum. The address www.agieg.net will be abandoned in 2014.

WITH COMMENTS AND ADDITIONS IN BOLD FROM MEMBERS OF THE AGIEG 23.01.12

THE DRAFT CONTAINS MOSTLY GENERALITIES . IT RAISES ISSUES BUT NEEDS MORE CONCRETE PROPOSALS FOR SOLUTIONS

I. Preamble/Stage Setting

Bureau comments on zero draft; schedule of negotiations

Stakeholder Forum has passed on the following information from the Bureau minutes concerning consideration of the Zero Draft of the Rio+20 outcome. Note that the first two sections will be discussed on 25-27 January, and sections II-V will be commented on up to 17 February for negotiations in March. This should help us to prioritize our own consideration of the draft.

Zero draft of Rio+20 outcome

The UNCSD bureau released on 10 January the zero draft of the outcome document for Rio+20, "The Future We Want": http://www.uncsd2012.org/rio20/index.php?page=view&type=12&nr=324&menu=23.
