The UNEP Major Groups and Stakeholders Advisory Group on International Environmental Governance, with experts from all regions and major groups, provided input to the International Environmental Governance (IEG) processes leading up to Rio+20 in June 2012.

Welcome to AG IEG web site

Welcome to the web site created for the UNEP Major Groups and Stakeholders Advisory Group on International Environmental Governance (AG IEG) 2010-2012. The AG used a list-serve and then this site to discuss the issues and prepare its contributions to intergovernmental processes in complete transparency. The AG completed its work by March 2012, but since it was a constructive experiment in expert input from civil society, this site with the AG outputs will be maintained for archival purposes at the address where it has been hosted by the International Environment Forum. The address will be abandoned in 2014.

Note that the first two sections will be discussed on 25-27 January, and sections II-V will be commented on up to 17 February for negotiations in March. This should help us to prioritize our own consideration of the draft.

Zero draft of Rio+20 outcome

The UNCSD bureau released on 10 January the zero draft of the outcome document for Rio+20, "The Future We Want": They have also revised the calendar of negotiating sessions between now and Rio+20 (see calendar).
